People like to see something more distinguished.
It makes great presents for people. Something that they haven’t thought of getting for someone
because you can buy a pen for ten cents. I see pens a lot of times just made out of
pine or plainer woods and it’s just not special. With the woods you need really good hardwood
that can turn well. For example redwood isn’t very good it doesn’t look that great but if
you buy redwood burl, which has all the fancy things in it, they turn and make an awesome
looking pen. This is called a redwood burl and it has little
lace and swirls in it. Really dark different colors. Burls are really nice, burls turn
difficult, they’ll chip on you. You get almost done and they blow up on you, you have to
start all over again. But this is one that’s called a brown box
elder burl. You can see the distinction. You can’t find that typically in any store. Each
one’s individual, every one the grains are different. If I take twenty pens and I take
pictures, I can tell them apart just by the pictures. No two are the same.
