however the webinar will be available to watch on-demand via our content hub exchange in the next couple of working days I would now like to hand over to em Ron who will be today's presenter Billy and thanks for that Nik I am excited to be presenting again well the Chartered Institute on marketing an organization that is leading the way to educate marketers so excited to be involved in a well leader that is doing so many things out there for marketers so this one presentation webinar we're doing today let me say a few things before we kick into the presentation so my aim is to share as much other camp in this short session there's a lot happening in world of marketing as a Latin generally there's a lot happening in the world and what you see in the news and so there's so much noise around us but there's bull constant in this equation and that constant is you the question is what are you doing to stay on top of your game what are you doing to survive what are you doing to work your way to achieving your goals and your dreams so before I kick into this presentation the best way for you to be this presentation it is going to be a series of slides there is a series of questions on the flight so if you connect with me on LinkedIn which one get my details later you can have a copy of the slides by my LinkedIn profile and don't worry if some of the slides are skipped through very quickly you will get these questions that you can run through there are challenges on running a webinar and I've attended many webinars myself I'm doing my emails while some listening to something and got my phone I learned many things so what I want you to do during this presentation is if he can turn away from it emails maybe mobile phone away from me so you can focus on this presentation and this presentation feel different because it's focused on you so I'm not here I'm not doing it marketing about digital marketing presentation this presentation is about you and how I share ideas on how you will improve yourself therefore you will gain a number of benefits also I will also run through this presentation look for the one thing the one thing that you can take action so if you've got a pen on a piece of paper grab it and if you have a lightbulb moment or if you think I'll cash if I did that I've answered this question this would radically change my career at career marketing or why I do write it down and in fact just out of interest write it down to export of it and send it to me right away LinkedIn let's see we come up with path title this webinar know has got the word remarkable in it I was taken from a cookie court from seven Gordon some of you probably know me as one of the biggest marketing gurus in the world set uses this word remarkable and and he's this world because there's a changing shift in expectations in the world and the standard has changed so good is now average so good is not good enough the will challenge generally across what we do in work and so on and what we find is a lot of people when they achieve good this stop and move on to the next thing so there's very few people who move from being good to great or becoming remarkable and sometimes remarkable is only a few inches way and guess what the rewards the big rewards the big opportunities are beyond good and it's when you start becoming a remarkable marketer or a great marketer that's when you achieve larger benefits it's interesting I've been market educator Marcus for about 20 years and if you if you look back marketing was quite a linear crap you work here where you're like this chacha-ji from an assistant to senior positions in marketing but that's changed in the last couple of years when digital and it's fascinating theme has change because there's so many new entry level positions in marketing is quite diverse there's so many director level collisions in marketing in fact I came across a a job title somewhere somebody under advertised for a position director of digital effectiveness I love that thinking is this this a real job title and the company had done the research on this a young we've got position for this to their specific type of role so it's fascinating themelis cross and again in the middle management middle layer on this equation there's there's just lots and lots of jobs and titles from content to digital to PPC to you so on so it's quite got motion now which is quite exciting if you're a freelancer or a consultant this world is looking very exciting and I love working with freelancers and consultants so marketing digital marketing has become a lifestyle create choice for those of you looking at becoming a freelancer and if you do that people tend to digital marketing is just in this upward curve there's a congratulations by attending this webinar in a year in a unique position right now I'm geeky with LinkedIn check out a job title or the way digital and marketing in it a couple of years ago there's about a thousand people now there's over 12 million people and that in the job title so you can see this amazing growth I don't talk to you about statistics I'm going to share a story with you based on this court from Elle Nightingale which did I think accurately describes the situation you're in right now and the quote here is you you are at this moment standing right in the middle of your own exon diamonds but the background to this quote is it's about a story of an African farmer he had tales of all the settlers who were making millions through diamond mines for this excited polymer then thought well that's why I want to do he ended up selling his farm and he started his life searching for diamonds and traveled great distances he ended up broke desperate and they were swinging join himself in the river near drowned the monkey bought this rock we paid very little money for it one day I found an unusual object which turned out to be a diamond in fact that area became the world's largest diamond mind so the form of you on their cause of diamonds sold it for nothing to look for it elsewhere well the moral of this is if only here taking the time to study and prepare himself and learn what a diamond look like in its raw state so each of you right now because of where we are in marketing and the demand for marketers and the exciting times we live in each of you right now is standing in Europe or naked of diamonds but the challenge for you is to have the wisdom the patience than learning to capture the opportunities that you have around it but I'm a tiny bit about my background I'm not going to go into him what have I been in this game or educating marketers for 20 years we when the see a.m. Study Center the pub but joint when too much to Metropolitan University I've been pioneering the development of online qualifications for quite a long time including digital marketing qualifications but the charting Zil marketing and also Masters in digital marketing with the Manchester Metropolitan University I've also gone very practical and been helping businesses implement sale sales and marketing automation for knowledge and generating millions in revenue but my passion and purpose is to help marketers succeed that's what I set out to do and I have a 2025 mission to help 10,000 marketers including freelancers so that's me in a wrong setting setting out to do and in this presentations broken off into three different areas because of the shortness on this planet my short and talked about a lot more different piece you know that marketing pleased with their personal development piece there's always three I'm going to cover today and I've actually watch a workbook behind this so if you want to connect to me I also need you to send you a of this workbook so you can do things in a bit more detail so the first point I want to or part in this presentation want to go into is the pathway and I want you to think about getting clarity on the direction and destination you're going in so the question here have you designed your own pathway you're on direction where are you going and the thing for this is if it's well designed you're happy you make it progress in getting satisfactions if it's not well designed it's a bit like browsing slicks you can sit there and browse Netflix and provide hour trying to look for something to watch and the end up watching nothing you just paint your tank doesn't browsing so if your life isn't just browsing and not taking action it is it's a real issue one of the things I want to make clear here is wherever you are now is important because of my experience you're having in the role you having you've been an important position and I'll give you an example of Steve Jobs he dropped out of college for a random reason inside set a course on calligraphy little billion on that calligraphy course influenced how he designed fonts which revolutionized all computers around the world with the creation of fonts and different typefaces which took place 20 years in later so every experience that you're having now I'm a Steve Jobs said the dots will connect at some point in the future so it's important for you no matter what your experience on where you are right now it's important for you to understand what is happening in turn in terms of where you are right now speaking to many marketers some of you might be in new plet you might be a new marketing just starting your own journey if you feel like you've got a mountain to climb some of you might just be the only market of a new company I'm finding it quite lonely some of you might already have some kind of knowledge but lacking a practical qualification some of you might be limited to progressively just hitting a wall you're trying to progress from where you are now into a management position or a direct position but you're usually is struggling to break through that next level some of you might have years of experience but you know got an official qualifications or we'll talk a little bit about the and digital marketing Awards at the end a way that work wait for you to get an official brand so many might just be spending time point fires out the chance to invest in yourself some of you might just be stuck in a company corn industry or be working for a team or a boss and design value your design understand you in terms of where you going into the future you know where are you heading imagine if he did have the knowledge and the skills and to mind a day to day activities you can get promotions to direct a level imagination more digital savvy and you could react quickly some of you may have ambitions there's nothing wrong with having targets all around money you may want to earn more 2 3 5 10 times more than where you are now some of you may want the motivation to be working in a brand or a large company or a type of company or industry that you that inspires you some of you might just want to break as mentioned you break free from a nine-to-five job be assigning anywhere in the world they're working so you want to become a freelancer so consultant in this part of presentation will cover two things number one analyzing yourself number to gain clarity invest in terms of the direction and destination so this this is quite important for you to will reflect on some of these things I am going to talk about the first one is a SWOT analysis here are familiar with SWOT analysis marketing 101 I want to put I want you to apply the SWOT analysis to yourself in a slightly different way so that there is a core to when knowing yourself you are empowered when accepting yourself you are invincible so hence is important for you to reflect on your abilities boss which are strong ones that come natural to you and this exercise will also help people uncover things that might be clocked around you they're slightly invisible Jim Collins talks about this Hedgehog concept which these questions will help you form these are three things that need to be present for you to be extremely successful become the best in the world at something what are you passionate about what drives economic engines for his in series of questions to get you thinking three days so the strength what are you naturally good at what sets you apart when other people see what do they say about you why are your strengths what areas are you select are you accelerating it especially skills weaknesses we'll take a call so you can just read these questions and everything or district or bed what is your kryptonite or as garyvee would say what is preventing you from crushing it what is stopping you from moving to the next level opportunities one of the ways you can raise a profile one quick wins what have you got those worth financial revenue to other organizations what what what's your transferable skills and this is something again I'm passionate about with the cartoonion see our marketing qualifications the way they're designed they have been designed with this in mind to give you transferable skills so if you've already got a qualification are you planning on doing qualifications this is the key driver threats I'm afraid we do have some threats marketing is not protected like any other but then any other role out there things have been automated and I'm dot wait for things to be automate because of parts of the mocking function which is already being automated there's a couple a question for you to reflect on after this webinar on what will you do with some of your skills went out of date especially if you're working in a very specialist digital and things are being automated which will get rid of set that involves I think here is not – and see the threat is to see the opportunities okay let's I'm going to some clarity style questions a clarity is important so it's important to have clarity because it's going to allow you to take action and we move on to the next thing quite quickly so a couple questions this of what are you pouring into your brain is quite important you've probably heard the court your thoughts implement actions you have to stand guard at the door of your mind what is useful information that you point into the brain what is entertainment what's useless so you have to and there's a lot of information around as I'm going as marketers so you have to figure out okay what you letting in what the filters filters they you can put in place there are many things that you might be worried about there's some interesting study which shows when you there's not such thing as multitasking you might be good at task switching but there's some interesting study that shows when you keep moving from one task to another you taken up energy in your brain nutrient so you're you're kind of slightly slowing your brain down so every day we expose them these days we jump from task to task so this is something to be really mindful of and I might touch on this later in the presentation as well so what is your your state in fact they've studied that I actually say you know if you're in there if you angry or fearful anxious when you eat or drink you literally poisoning the food you're putting into your body so this and you probably experienced it this state of mind you in it's it's it's quite important here in the right state to cut to the right opportunities your purpose so this is a very important component and is based on simon Sinek recommend you go and watches TED talk them on the why and it's important to clarify your why because it could be the catapult to do and explain what you're doing you can simon Sinek researched leaders we found that people like Martin Luther King and all the influential leaders like Steve Jobs that when they talked they were taught other why why they do it never explain how they do or what they do they said what as a marketer to really have your wife very fixed what is your V egg so if this turns me ta be hag stands for big hairy audacious goals so it's an acronym that authors Jim Colin and Jerry Porras came up with in the book built to last and it's a goal that essentially scares you and the purpose of having this kind of goal and there's other names for this as well I come across moonshot goals you know if you look at Google they've got big mission goal their goal is to categorize the world's information it's fascinating seen these moonshot goals because we're living in a time where it's actually possible to create a billion dollar company in two years I've been excited history has that being possible so these moonshot goals on these big hugs are very interesting concepts well the core concept for you to understand is when you have this kind of goal it straight to Z it pushes you it takes you out of your comfort zone and you start thinking very differently if you're a marketing executive right now if you're B hug was to become a chief marketing officer and a large company and thus they're pretty big goal because if you've started or hairy audacious goal because we just started in marketing but what that is going to force you to do is start thinking actually it leads to the mitten in my next slide is whatever your target is whatever you want to become somebody has already achieved it the success leaves clues if it is a chief marketing officer or whatever the goal is it's important for you to think and connect with these types of individuals to learn from them I'm going to finish this section with two exercises that I highly recommend you do fish without doing some of the back of my presentation try these exercises and the features of each escort the exercises are there's two exercises here and what they're kind of designed to do is to trying imagine yourself in the future in fact then Jeff Bezos from Amazon did this exercise before you set up Amazon console where it worked for him because easily set up a gigantic organization so he on the exercise is to imagine yourself on a rocking chair at the age of 85 sitting in whatever environment you want to sit in front of the fire so you maintain yourself in the future and you place yourself there and then you wake up and you list all the regrets that you've put down all the regrets that you should have done in your life similarly and this exercise again I'd do this quite regularly just two other check point is you could create it create a perfect day in the future write down a timeline so you know write a 24-hour clock down on a piece of paper and write down what your perfect day looks like so when you waking up where you waking up what house you're living in where is it what you're driving and stop building this this picture these exercises what they do is they'll create some intensity and allow you and they'll catapult you into action whenever it whenever you need to each of that section I'm going to be on to the next section positioning so record path over there so positioning is is very important because we're now living in a different time and the question here is how are you positioned in the mind of others a job promotion out there or an opportunity or while that's taking place out there are you the person that then people think of when there's an opportunity if you're not then just another person I've got to apply to jobs and do it the hard way around it's quite difficult so this time of presentation is about thinking about creating some kind of magnetic presence one of the things I'm going to ever think about doing and positioning is to think about your big three or your dream three and these three maybe organizations or industries that you want to work in or if you're freelancing or you're consulting the three organization like a blood gas client so at some point I would think in depth about clear big three are thinking about these allows you to get organized become consistent and have a relentless plan to win your position in these organizations or requiring these clients for those of you who not strategist button this is more and more important because there's a lot of tactical marketers in the marketplace and a lot of employers investing in tactics but for you to become a brilliant strategist can actually drive a vision for a company think you can think longer term younger tactics so you've got the ability to mix the tactics and the right level of tactics with the aim to be hitting longer-term goals there's a couple of things I'm going to just fight through here that I want you to just get your mind around when there's two areas one grab attention to position yourself of the next slide if you look at your LinkedIn profile and other things and people click the iOS and then go back I think everyone's got about six second attention span so you've only got a couple of seconds to attract someone's attention if you're right a networking event and if you're a CIA member reckon then where you get to some of these these events that take place you've got the opportunity to introduce yourself so you know what are you introducing yourself as ultimately if you want to attack your big three and become relentless and position ourselves really well you have to clean yourself as an expert so you've got an education based marketing strategy to get to your ideal position so just business for a couple of slides there are quick models that you can use so if you have got six seconds into this sell that you've got in your LinkedIn profile there are quick models where you've got to quickly introduce yourself talk about your target audience on what benefit you've given them and also there's a bit of positive thinking on the image on the left-hand side because a lot of people I speak to and ask them how are you doing today hands are usually not bad or something negative but so maybe if somebody asked that next time just say I'm doing great I'm doing excellent you are having a bad day maybe just say I'm doing unbelievable I am believable coming with any any probably those positive in the other person 60 seconds is Bill like the elevator pitch so if you do grab all the my slides of a couple of questions here that can construct this also if you do have the opportunity to talk to people getting into interviews you've got to have a very clear elevator pitch within 60 seconds to two minutes you can position yourself really well so in terms of the next bit as some of you might be more experienced therefore you've got a way of doing things so say for example you find a process that you've been hugely successful in so you may have a way or a model of doing things and some of those actually sit on a lot of intellectual property if you've got ten years experience in marketing you've figured out a way of doing things might be specific to your industry you might not even be conscious of it it's in there because you're doing it every day so have a think about mapping this on out because that is well quite a lot for those of you who are getting up and doing masterclass and presentations it's the ultimate way of building a credibility and positioning yourself at the next bit and positive in giving the see am framework the gain official certificate you're in a community of professionals you know certainly when I do a search on LinkedIn there's over 200,000 people connected to let them charge into our marketing and also if you're going out for jobs you'll see many employers and job specs with as 4cm qualifications so it's important and there are specialist modules for example as a module on an award on digital strategy but if you're very specific on becoming one of these brilliant strategists else I will recommend that you look at the awards if you're not committed to being here for qualification okay good so I'm just going to go into the last section I have here and whilst I'm also maybe already popped questions in but I think he's well some working through this feel free just to drop keep dropping some questions and we will get them get to them at the end till Fitz fenya light bulb moments as well and what you've got so far as also feel free to give some give some feedback so I'm going to display the presentation so I'm not talking about proficiency commit to becoming a master in what you're doing or a master mixer some interesting experience I like to present at an e-commerce event compliments bag now that triggered me to look at jobs in e-commerce it not looked at pre the cell was looked at digital and marketing jobs and I was fascinating to see the growth in e-commerce and getting all there was ecommerce marketer so it's fascinating hundreds of job titles in e-commerce but what hit me was job specifications I was really thrown off a job certifications they were expecting you to be good at customer acquisition CRM conversion rate multi-channel pay-per-click SEO your user experience analyzing campaigns web analytics I thought that's fascinating you know who which kind of marketer has this mix of skills so I'm going to talk in a little bit about a t-shirt marketer but before I do that I want to address this because it's a real issue on all the marketers we teaching them training and first first question is what does it mean to become a master how do you become a master of entering and it's interesting I'm saying that because because as a mocker you've got about thousand things that you need to learn and it's impossible to learn a thousand things but what you should think about doing is maybe you learn how to do ten things a thousand times so let me just repeat that instead of trying to learn a thousand things as a marketer why not learn ten things that you do a thousand times which will give you a really strong skill set in what you're doing right now so that's important to understand because you can't it's almost impossible to go and learn everything and marketing is going to fragmented to be able to do that I've got this image on and if you look at any martial arts pot if you look up Taekwondo if you take wonder if you're not some type of take wonder the people who do take wander the land pattern that each belt and sometimes I'll kind of look at and think you know these guys are lifting the same pattern over and over again at each level and they're repeating it hundreds and hundreds of time so conscious focused repetition is what they're doing and I want you to think of some of the disciplines although for they're in fragments of different digital marketing skills in the same way is how do you constantly train yourself to become better at these things repetitive constant repetition training yourself to run like a machine in these different areas so the benefit of this is doesn't matter what happens around you your job can change the environment can change when you get a skills built to this mastery level and it doesn't it doesn't matter because you'll be able to handle any obstacle any situation any scenario that you're going to be put in your stress levels will be law decide flexion is higher you can get there a lot quicker in any area of your life so you've heard the complet we've probably heard the concept of TC Marcus's so something to have a think about it's about having a base knowledge which is solid and marketing foundation have an expert jump expertise and channels there's a Dulles I mean TCS probably the wrong ship because I think in reality you probably need a good base knowledge of everything and you probably need a couple of areas where you need to be really good at it also depends on what your dumb title is so if you're a Content marketer and there's going to be stiff ik elements of this T shape or the M shape which are going to be more important than others if you're working in P or communications and they're all different so you've got to figure out you've got to figure out where you're where you mix it if if that makes sense a neater way of benchmarking in digital marketing skills is to look at the West model where which has been developed by digital marketing guru dr. Dave Chaffee is studied you probably read his book so the rest model is a good way of figuring out okay how do you benchmark yourself against all the different skills so there's a planning component before I jump into the race so if you're benchmarking your planning skills any asking questions like can you set a vision can you sets market objectives can you define audience segments can you create personas can you create an online value proposition of a website or multi-channel experience that so this bit is when I've talked about previously becoming a brilliant strategist the next component is wheat so here can you measure can you analyze media effectiveness search marketing is caused a big component on digital so it's all about the organic and AdWords decently understand the process of online PR and influence outreach but we got broad and deep experience on some of these paid media options also can you can you create clean I should create an annual multi-channel plan to achieve the desired goals and the next component is act so this is about customer journey lead capture content marketing can create a plan to engage audiences and get commercial results through content marketing as obviously the element of landing pages being able to understand generate results and also the things are on campaign planning a component of it related to convert and by the way each of these areas are growing extremely fast in in the marketplace and when I talked about these job titles before when I showed you all the job tiles it's fascinating growth and each of these there is a multiple components of of job titles this area is a lot of people of predicting is quantum or the biggest and highest page to get involved in so I'm quite rightly tsoukalos it it can make the difference between generating thousands and millions of plans were for revenue so you know helped planning for nurturing retargeting personalization is big mobile experiences and interaction multi-channel selling do you need do you know how to review and design persuasive multi-channel sales experience I was in the big area of conversion of client optimization which is the knowledge to design and wrong crop the acronym programs based on different testing and relative relevant tools final component here is around engagement customer service on the end component about reviewing and implementing customer welcome sequences customer loyalty programs improving service could be do it could be did to the email communications about reviewing business email marketing lifecycle activities I'm having the right email contacts right strategy obviously big area social media communications or community can you review social media presence and communication effectiveness or business whether it's paid organic so this little the model intro on screen here which you can download my have a look up in terms of how the charging so marketing qualifications can help you in becoming this t-shirt marketer and they're they're amazingly designed to help you become a modernity tech marketer and transferable skills and so on and the rush I feel I definitely as you if you've done cm qualifications from long time ago you're not as difficult diplomas and so on but but not many people know that you can actually do in a walk in its on and gain a qualification so that's important to to know that so if you wanted to do an award in digital strategy you could give that award on its on and there's many study centers that you can sign up upward to be able to do that so look out for that if you don't commit to doing form and torment qualification think about getting this and these Bank size piece of the knowledge I also sometimes get asked a question sure why not just do this for free online go to a website I mean some of this content is available free and online I think what the qualifications are the LC to structure and organize your thinking and also it's giving you an assessment which is one of the most exciting bits about the ECM qualifications the assessment you need to estimate based on the organization you're working for or a practical organization so he's allowing you to take the knowledge and implement it and create some benefit certainly some of those students have taught in the past or we've had come through our Center the assessment has actually gotten job promotions they've created a digital strategy for the business and it completes logged in and giving them a promotion or we've had freelancers and consultants and agencies do these qualifications on digital strategy for the client company and that clients turnarounds that actually can lead to come we do this in real life so the hell it says it's paid the cost of the qualification multiple times over so I've showed these three things today a pathway or we'll need to think about getting clarity on the direction and destination where you're going in an important component to allow you to stay very clear on what you're doing now to make sure it's aligned to where you want to be in the future positioning create a magnetic presence Laxton the world we're living in is very different in terms of positioning yourself and recruiting canoes days you know employers gone to LinkedIn tonight people you go really think about positioning yourself proficiently very important you know your skills your whatever you're investing in yourself investing yourself mouth we can end more and more in the future so one constant if you are not investing yourself you're not growing as an individual so this growth growth is important you so I'm just wrapping up the presentation here and you can start you can play any questions in the question block the bomb so I've called a number of things across the road so I'll start wrapping up this last slide while sort of questions in a couple of creepies and I've gone to the court here a year from now you may be wishing you start today or five years of Micra wishing you started a laksa you so these are stunning in your own acres of diamonds and you can't let time go past where you're not grabbing the opportunities for some of you you may have experienced up and down downs in your career you may have hit rock bottom life is life you know the message of Mitzvah will come along and bumpy on the head so it's important to just to if you're experiencing a bit of a roller coaster ride and you create so positively will rock about music chronically make sure you bounce back off corporate and put a bit on on state of mind which I wish I could talk more about I think there's one of the attractive that I'm seeing some people failing so for example you might be the best marketer might have all the skills and you might have all the opportunities around you might have been offered jobs we still failing which means it's actually Seoul series of other things that might be affecting you from progressing and growing and they might be released to the state of Maine because you have to to succeed then anything you have to be patience you have to be positive and you have to be persistent I see too many people giving up by easily if you really want something you keep going for it it's like one of my children my daughter – my kids will give up they'll ask for something and give up a book one of my daughter's she'll keep asking for something until she gets it but she'll keep asking ten times a hundred times a thousand times and she'll tell she gets it so if you've got ambition and dream you have to be persistent in going towards it and anything to get it and there's a couple of things here I did want to give you an offer for staying and listening to this presentation so there's two things I'm going to offer you and I just want to be specific that there are Studies on to presenting this or this is specific to our study went into MMC which delivers qualifications from the percent online so number one happy to do a free discovery call with you so if you want it to be reviewed of LinkedIn profiles as a 30 minute discovery called ping me a message and I can develop for you so 30 minutes way we can review a TV and give you advice on the future completed direction which is always well did that's quite exciting and secondly because I believe in p.m. qualifications so much I'm not just going to make a difference to your life we will if you want to involve to an award or the full qualification we are committing to paying one of your assessment piece or one module if you want to enroll in next at seven days so think there for you so Nick I think we've got a little bit of time for questions Thank You Imran yes we're going to answer some questions now that have been submitted as a reminder to everybody day you can still submit your questions via chat box in the attendee control panel our first question is in your opinion do you think having a degree is essential to a successful career in marketing okay in for an interesting question so if I could ask it will be useful to get a deeper understanding of our question but if I was answering I think it's important to have a qualification a professional qualification – to have a successful critic electrolytes organizing and knowledge you work towards qualification you're being assessed to being benchmarked and so on so if the question is more related to AFP am qualification vessel a degree is an interesting question because we I mean if your based on the you kids will remember interesting times in the UK because withe in the entire education system is going to change with a printing believe and so on in the future so the education system is going to look very different in ten years time in the UK so traditional degrees I don't think they don't wouldn't be for or against them so I kind of stand in the middle there are scenarios where actually decrease the waste of time the scenarios where degrees have been hugely beneficial so if you're thinking going down degree which I would certainly recommend you look at the degree in conjunction with a professional qualification because if you look at any profession like accountancy and so on there's always a professional awarding body which is teaching you that in terms of not probably answering the question very clearly because it depends on which degree is and who's teaching and what the curriculum is so the only thing to announce I've been involved in wanting Masters in digital marketing with the Manchester Metropolitan University and there's many people progeny birth in question so you go look at his teaching in or the experiences of the teachers what the history is talk to people who have completed the qualification of degree that's really important speak to get testimonials speak to people is the best way of figuring out whether you go down a degree route also to think about is I think the future will there will be a feature pathway which I'm trying to exist now so if you ask this question is is young and I think it will going into a degree you can actually go down at the end quote occasionally I'm working way out from level 3 level 4 get the level 6 qualification get the post graduate diploma the last dozen actual route that you can take if you decided not to turn to a degree and do as the a.m. qualification and in fact that is extremely powerful then just going and doing a t-38 degree in marketing so there's an alternative there because you can do cm qualification you got the professional skills it can be working in organizations or listen some exciting pathways and and opportunities there for you Thank You Ramon I have another question for you which was the TED talk you recommended Ted te d tataki recommended right and so TED talk am I recommended is delivered by a guy called simon Sinek as a first name is simon second name is an expelled SI n EK and the clock is on why also he's wrote a book on the way as well I've grown into the milk see of growing my shell crab or going on my shelf somewhere and it is in fact he's got two books on one of them's called lead to the atlast and one of them is called wife understand I recommend watching a TED talk to start off with and then maybe get in the book thank you and well I think we have time for another question I am studying certificate in marketing do to finish in the next three months I already have the digital marketing award this is my first step into marketing I was looking at employment as a marketing assistant to hone my broad practical skills but as your slide suggests this linear route has become an old hat my heart is in consumer right insights communications and branding any career advice would be greatly received okay brilliant yes sir so the the I mean it's good they've done the linear route because at your level it's good to kind of grab the key foundations in marketing so you the modules you've already done are very good modules be right in terms of next level and you can like so you've got the ability to pick and choose some people want to do one qualification they leave a gap so traditionally if you see a lot of people that get this difficult the diploma and leave a two-year gap so what's exciting about these awards is they can fill that gap which is really exciting so if you're you know interested in incomes and analytics and wanna come up with the topics of question disappeared you've got the option options of doing these individual awards and there is our we put three or three on the slide there but those other wards at level six so you look at all the level six awards as an organ the mastering metrics one and innovation module for you to have a look at as well as the digital strategy and digital experience side of things as well but if you're not ping their message they can send you some links and people to follow that be useful if you're leaders in these areas that you can be following their blogs and tweeting about thank you women have another question for you I'm a marketing executive and I have three plus years of experience in sem diploma level six and given my knowledge I feel the position is still for a beginner where would you see someone with this background okay so three plus years experience again it really depends on way where you're trying to get to with industry you're working in I'm to understand why white soap you're liking and it will feel like a beginner so if you've got the knowledge and you've got the experience maybe there's something else which is not challenging you you're gonna have to really think deeply about what what is it that you're not being challenged and also what is it I've talked I mean if you do some of the exercises in this presentation you'll certainly figure this out is to think ahead you know what what do you why do you feel like a beginner and how would you break out our feeling like a beginner and also the limitation inside your own brain do you feel like a beginner but you're actually an advanced individual because if you go to the level six and you've got three years experience now you're probably being a bit hard on yourself so I think I think you're you've probably made a lot more progress than where you are now so maybe have a think about in the future where do you want to be I mean do you feel as though you would want to become a manager how many people do you want what kind of organizations who want to work with though you can progress if it's knowledge that you think it is knowledge that's holding you holding you back if it's knowledge that's holding it back then maybe think about the next qualification of if you want to take a black one further there's also sorted marketer status you could be working towards so if you feel that your pathway of being restricted there are other things you can be doing at the next level under the leadership marketing leadership program as well they could be looking at so that many as many pathways that you can potentially go through thank you again Inman I do have another question for you we've had quite a few questions coming in this is quite an interesting one do you think being reluctant to shout about your own good work links to the quote you're either remarkable or invisible so it's a good question and the gospel now answering this question women think of a fast quick as they are answering it so I mean if you're into carcinoma which I've been for a number of years there is something called self self-sabotage if you come across a and there are the people some people have achieved success there is when they get to that success they did there is this concept of this will look reluctancy or playing yourself down and in fact I've just had a question around here as well because I ever asked that question and that they're very good at what they do but this thing they feel that feel like a beginner so I think done is important I think it does happen quite a lot and there's all kinds of scenarios in probably come across imposter syndrome and a couple of these things so I think you've got to and some people that they're reluctant to talk about themselves because they feel arrogant and so on and or whatever their beliefs are don't believe they should shout out about the wrong but there's ways of doing it and which is without being arrogant you can talk about yourself and your achievements and so on and nothing it it probably happens in certain scenarios more than others it's interesting cuz my my eldest daughter is going to is going to high school next year and we put her into a school in Manchester and one of the ethos of the school is a guild school and what one of the studies they found was that girls growing up through high school they're very real bit and then this came up the dormer a talk about the wind I don't want to talk about the success of Airy isn't very reserved it's a very reserved thing and I might be specific to to the culture a little bit of the UK so so there is this and that doesn't there but I think it's important just to analyze it and figure out how you present your winds in different ways are suitable for you but then there should be more of it are there more people if people have had success they should be shouting out about it and sharing and giving and also the human need which is to shall contribute to other people I think sharing your wind will influence and inspire others and so I think I should be back home for that okay Thank You Imran we've just got time for one final question and that is what's the ideal entry role for a new marketer who's had a seven-year career in advertising as an art director to realistically aim for I think so suddenly a familiar advertising looking at an entry-level marketing world yes the question is what's the ideal entry role for a new marketer who's had a seven-year career in advertising as an art director to realistically aim for okay it's an interesting question probably nice dive into a bit further on why why it should be an entry-level role in marketing and the reason is if this individuals were only got experience as a director and seven years although it might be in a different field so the question would question I'd be asking is is what marketing knowledge we already have and one finding is you know people in different disciplines although they have had a different title or they're different they've been exposed to a lot of marketing and there is a diagnostic tool that you can use which benchmarks see am diagnostic which benchmarks your knowledge so I'd probably recommend you do that just to see what he really waited marketing knowledge as really as an entry level either a diploma level so I recommend looking at looking at that there are there are certain types of marketing skills which I think are cross-cutting if you learnt these skills you'd need to hit any entry level or even senior roles so then skills are include content copy creativity and on so on so these are or user experience so these are roles which cross all fragmented digital disciplines and songs I've gotta think about whitening to that if you again if you are a premium message of the new tablet your LinkedIn profile in a bit more detail but if you don't ping the messenger jump on a 30-minute call video and give you some advice on that
