  1. I agree with the comment that suggested that each verse is part of a conversation with the speaker, and the embodiment of their fear. Makes perfect sense. I also agree with the guy that said orange guy has social fear due to being the only one with this third, giant eye and that hunter lady has external/fear of the unknown- she has to hunt to survive and fend off predators after all.

What I'd also like to point out is how the fear giant changes form throughout.
When they first fuse the giant has a single, giant eye. I think this is because at first orange 's fear is about people seeing his big eye, and because hunter's fear of the unknown latches onto the whole "wtf what's with the eye" as she's never seen a person or animal with more than 2.
In their second fusion after they're captured they both fear the guards who captured them; the giant's head has the diamond-shaped visor seen on all the guards as well as the curvy shoulder-line thing that forms a V-shape in the center of the chest.

  2. While everyone's coming up with super theories about the meaning of this song, i'm just shipping alien dude and human chic.

  3. I would read a book or watch a movie / tv show based off of this reality. Uniquely dystopian, i think is the right way to describe it.
OH MY GOD I JUST REALIZED THE SONG LOOPS KIND OF LOOK AT THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE BEGINNING AND THE END

  4. Im gonna offer up an explanation that has absolutely nothing to do with fear as a deeper meaning! Its 100% just what i think is neat. I'm just gonna tell it like its a story.

The idea was to create a weapon. An enemy they barely understood was halting progress on the space frontier. Humans didn't know much of anything beyond what it could achieve in battle: a sort of ability to transform into a gigantic humanoid beast. They wanted to be able to harness this, and to that end a colony was set up on an uninhabited planet. Through many autopsies, and numerous human experiments, they found a way. By manipulating the human genome and combining it with alien material they could create beings that could turn into the creatures. The trick was to have two parts of a whole: A blue, and a red. When a successful blue and red made contact, they'd bind together and become this larger creature. However there were a few problems with the program.
First, the reds were far too stable. Their bodies usually didn't interact properly with a blue, and wouldn't create the desired creature. In fact, only a fraction of the reds created could join with a blue. Luckily, one could usually tell if a red would be able to join with a blue by the presence of extra eyes or limbs. Second, the creatures were difficult, if not impossible, to control, and the more a blue and a red were separated, the less controlled the creature would be. Third, once a red and a blue fused they'd become extremely attached to one another.
Eventually these problems lead to the destruction of the program, but not on the end of the scientists running it. The "excess" reds were used as labor and used to run the facilities, and were treated as less than reds and blues, which were in turn treated as less than human. So the excess reds eventually overthrew the scientists, and killed as many "fusables" as they could. Blues died en masse.
A place was set up for the blues, just in case the reds ever needed them, and after generations and generations, the two cultures became separated. The fused creatures passed into myth and legend, and the only thing that remained was that blues and reds interacting was considered highly taboo. Each culture depicted the others as savage animals. Fusable reds were even rarer than before, but now the significance of their existence was lost.

Our main red was depressed and and anxious, but curious, which is what lead him to cross the border.

  5. I love how whoever's in charge of the channel keeps favoriting any comment that brings up a theory or observation about the song, its lyrics, or the themes.

It shows that they care a lot and enjoy this.

  6. Cara sou obrigado a dizer as teorias que criaram em cima dessa musica foram muito boas assim como a musica em que eu estou muito viciado

  7. All of these people making theories or trying to stare their philosophical views on the video, but I'm just enjoying this incredible song.

  8. Remember kids, don’t cross contaminate dimensions. Your friendly neighborhood time-space repair man will be their shortly

  9. Ok I know I’m late to the party but the monster when they first is very incomplete and messy then it slowly develops into more cleaner unlike the first one. (if the things people are saying are true) the monster represents they’re relationship as it it begins corrupted and slowly develops into a more stable being

  10. !!!! I just realized, the moment they lock the two in the cells, the lerics go, "why can't I be in here?" As if the person Mr Fear is singing too just locked him up, or more likely, bottled up their fears.

  11. This entire comment section is amazing, and I think I want to add another take on this massive and fascinating pile.

This could be interpreted as being about social change.

The two characters come from very different cultures, separated by both distance and advancement. They meet by random chance, and though one hurts the other instinctively, they come to make peace and form a bond.

    That bond is the beast.

"Society" sees that new bond as an abomination, and fears it. That beast will destroy them all if they don't fight it, they think. These two should never be together; it's unnatural, it's wrong, it's a threat to everything we hold dear and the order of the world.

We only see it happening in the red guy's society, but it's likely the hunter's society would react much the same.

Red Guy, clearly dissatisfied with his society, relishes in that reaction of fear; he tries to use their union as a weapon and crush the guard. The hunter, new to this society, doesn't understand and fights it. This causes a rift to form between the two, and society immediately seizes that chance to pull them apart and isolate them further. "You shouldn't associate with those people," they tell him. "What you did and who you are is wrong."

For a while, this works, but Red Guy and the Hunter realize they can't deal with being apart. They had something better and stronger together, and in the lowest depths of their isolation, they manage to find each other again and come back stronger than ever. This time the Hunter is willing to fight for this, as she's been hurt by this society as well and she now sees that things need to change.

So they struggle again against society. This time society fights back harder even as it's collapsing from the strain of that new idea they've had forced upon them. Even the strongest bond has a breaking point though, and the fight shakes their resolve once more.

But change doesn't stop once it gets going; they both still want to be together again immediately, and it's interesting to note how the beast's flesh still lingers even when society pulls them apart: an idea never really goes away completely once it's out into the world. Change will come whether they want it or not, and perhaps if they hadn't fought back so eagerly the Hunter's will would have prevailed and allowed peaceful coexistence.

So what I'm saying is we need a pride parade for giant torso beasts.

  12. A theory as to why she shot him in the first place was bragging rights or praise and fame. For instance black squirrels are a rarity in the mid west U.S. Well a guy released a bunch of em where my grandma lives and she lets us hunt there and i got one. Now whenever someone says "Hey look at this big fox squirrle i shot" i pull out a picture of that and they shut up. It is considered impressive if you kill something like that that's rare (if it's endangered that's a different story hunting an endagered species is both highly illegal and most people will hate you for it and rat you out). My thinking is that she never saw a creature like that and thought that if she killed it she would rise in the social ladder of her people. Consider that she is human but obviously not from this dimension. She is from a society that knows how to craft clothing and bows but does not know how to make or at least inexpensively mass produce effective firearms since she is using a bow. This makes me think she might be in an alternate universe version of Japan (notice her stature and eyes (not trying to be racist))

  13. Im in love with this type of music with animated videos, this one in particular is amazing.
Also I wish there were more comment sections like this one in other videos

  14. In my opinion, those red soldiers are actually the heroes fighting against the two characters who are dependent on each other but are causing destruction

  15. i always just assumed it was a metaphor for their relationship being toxic and even when both of them want to be in it they get swallowed up in the negative emotions that cause lashing out.

  16. I love this song so much, with all of my being. The animation is a master piece, it´s amazing. I listened to it since it came out, over and over again ♥

  17. My daughter who is 7 is in love with this song. Lol she just said "I'm learning the instruments to this song." You have a devoted follower.

  18. The anime really goes around with the song

And the video itself is just great

Please could someone rate this video too; https://youtu.be/ouebJPxRZss

  19. You know, the monster itself could represent the alt right's views on non-traditional relationships, a monster that is destroying society. While the two are just trying to love

  20. This makes me think of one of my failed relationships and how addiction destroyed it. Us two together ignited into this thing that cause destruction of our environments, and those around us. She fought harder to escape it than I did, as I was almost resigned to my fate and that I didn't have it in me to change. We'd end up back together and back to old ways, the same way they find each other in the cells. The beast is the addiction and its destructive force. Sucks the way things ended but I'm happy to be almost 5 years sober. I do miss them at times but they were my greatest trigger.
