Scratch It Like Mad! – Daily Do’s of Dermatology

Scratch It Like Mad! – Daily Do’s of Dermatology

So here’s another daily tip from your friendly local dermatologist! Alright so there’s this cartoon out there that has a janitor picking up the phone in a dermatology clinic and he’s just saying “I’ll just scratch it, scratch it like mad!” right and that’s not what we want you to do. What I want us to think about scratching it, scratching it like mad. I want you to think about that because it doesn’t just mean this, it also means the products that we’re using on our body. Now I do not, for the vast majority of people. I do not like these exfoliating beads that feels like you’re grinding sandpaper into your skin. Guys, the more gentle you are with your skin usually, 99.9% of the time, usually that’s gonna mean the more gentle your skin is back to you. So if you’re using harsh stuff and scrubby stuff and beaded stuff and loofahs and sandpaper and Dremels like just stop! The vast, vast majority of people don’t need that stuff. Be gentle. Be calm. Relax and help your skin to relax. If you need any personal attention, go see your local dermatologist. We can often look at your skin and tell you what we recommend, but guys that’s not gospel okay? We have to try things and see how you respond, and then see if it’s right for you .
