Restoring a badly scratched white Toshiba RC-691F flip clock case #FlipClockRepairs

Here we have a Toshiba solid state digital am/fm flip clock radio the case is in pretty bad shape we’ll look at cleaning that up I have started polishing up the front cover to get rid of the scratches and the marks on it I’ll be using 600 wet and dry paper some 1,200 wet and dry then some 2000 wet and dry after that I’ll be using some auto polish Autosol metal polish I’ll continue with what I’m doing and then I’ll come back we can see how it’s working out I’ll finished the sandpapering now though I’m going to finish off with the Aitosol metal polish we’ll get a start on that rubbing it in a circular motion spreading it across the entire surface I’m using a Glasgow brush here that I use for normal clock cleaning of brass parts nice and smooth and soft and follows the contours of whatever object you’re cleaning Autosol was designed for polishing

chrome on truck bumper bars etc it’s a very very very fine abrasive it just takes the oxidized layer off the top turn that round the other side same thing circular motion all the way along that’s looking better the scratches are gone that we’re down across there I’ll give it another coat of Autosol and then I’ll clean up a gunk along the bottom here and then we’ll move on to the rest of the case there we have it will now we’ll use the same process to clean up this ghastly looking mess in here we’ll need a toothbrush to clean that out and then we’ll polish it I’ll get a start here with the toothbrush scrubbing down getting the mud and the muck out of in there we’re going to get start on it then I’ll finish the rest off camera and come back and see how it looks it’s gotta look better than it is at the moment a rag for a quick wipe off it’s better already well that’s a top cleaned up that big scratch deep scratch that was in there is now gone so all got to do now is follow up with the bottom half it’s looking
