Working large and being experimental with
the way in which you produce your prints gives you a lot of options. In this print for example
there is this fairly illegible but recognizable as cursive writing that is repeated throughout
this very large area. And often times when people see this print they ask me how difficult
it was for me to carve those minute elements of this text on such a very large block of
wood, but in fact what I did was, is I simply repeated this single block of wood over and
over and over again using a ruler and printing on to the paper in successive times in order
to get what appears to be a single sentence in this text but in actuality it is simply
repeated. And you can see how the text again it’s illegible and it’s meant really only
to be viewed as single and it’s accentuated by the fact that it is actually repeated.
Which gives it a nice sort of flowing composition, it allows me to print in a large area or using
a block of wood that is only, actually it’s only half of the block of wood that was cut.
