[Music plays. Title Screen: “Clemson University College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities: Performing Arts.” Name card: “Erin McDonnell: Performing Arts Theater Major”] The thing that stands out to me
most about studying performing arts in Clemson is that we have an amazing facility. The Brooks center is probably the nicest performance space I
will ever perform in. It is state of the art. We have touring companies,;professional shows that come to the Brooks Center to tech
their shows because it’s such an amazing facility, and the acoustics are amazing. And every show that comes in here that I have the opportunity to see is such an incredible experience because the theater is so nice and to be a
college student and have the opportunity to perform on the Brook’s stage is … it’s just such an amazing opportunity. And I remember looking at every other school, and the performance spaces were not very
impressive, and I didn’t think that that mattered until I came here and i was just blown
away. And I just wanted to perform on that Brooks stage. And it’s an experience that is unlike any other. [Name card: “Meredith Kidd: Performing Arts Theater Major”] MEREDITH: The people here are rooting for you before you ever step foot into the building. They’re extremely welcoming, and they want you to be successful and to achieve your goals before you even get here. And if someone had told me two and a half
years ago that I would be in the place I am right
now, and have learned all the things I have, and gone to a lot of different theater
festivals, and had many opportunities as I’ve had, I
wouldn’t have ever imagined it. So it’s really great how supportive they are and really are supporting you before you even get here. So they’re ready have you walk into
their door and ready to get you going. ERIN: So within the Performing Arts major you have the three concentrations of Audio Technology, Music, and Theater. And then within those concentrations you have
an emphasis that you choose so I’m a Performing Arts major with a
theater concentration and then my emphasis is acting. So what’s great about that is you have this general knowledge of the Performing Arts, as a general degree, and then you have an even more focused knowledge theater, and then an even more focused concentration on acting. [Name card: “Beth Lamar: Performing Arts Music Major”] BETH: So the Performing Arts major is a BA, a bachelor of arts. And that bachelor of arts gives you whole realm so you identify with the business side, you identify with the non-profit side you identify with the performing side. You get all of this experience all wrapped in one, and your not dedicated to just a certain field. If you get a BM, a bachelor of music, and you do, like, strictly performing. Well, what if you
graduate and you want to be an entertainment lawyer, or if you want to go and be the director of a fine arts facility? With the bachelor of arts you get that experience; you the the administrative experience as well as other educational opportunities. ERIN: I mean that’s why I love Clemson. When I visited, everyone that I asked if they like going to school here, they were like “Yeah! Yeah! You have to come here! It’s so great!” and they are. They’re so happy to be here. I’m happy. I’m happy to come to come to class every day, and it’s so beautiful. The campus is so
beautiful the leaves are changing right now. And every sunset is orange and purple…and it really is! I thought that it was like a myth, but it’s just so beautiful here. And the atmosphere is just so great. Everyone is so proud to come to Clemson, and their proud to be a Tiger, and they wear orange on Fridays, and I just love being a part of that culture. That everyone is so happy to be here, and you can’t help but be happy too. [End cards: “MATRF: Produced by the graduate students of Clemson’s Multimedia Authoring Teaching & Research Facility.
