Cleveland Institute of Art: Photo III Public Art Project

So we’re at the Cleveland
Institute of Art. We printed off cameras that we
shot in our lighting studio, and we’re just wheat
pasting them around campus. Wheat paste, it’s like a powder. We mix it with water, it makes
it very easy to make glue. And then we’re laying
down the actual print that we took onto the paste,
and then we cover it up with another layer of paste. All this is very time consuming. It requires a lot
of patience, and I’m happy that I’ve gotten
a chance to work on it. It’s not something
you kind of learn out of a book or something. You have actually
experience it, and it’s been really fun to
work with these guys. It allows them to sort
of show off a little bit. It’s like making them
happy, making them proud, making them excited
about making artwork. Working together like it really
created a sense of camaraderie. It’s all about pretty much
just coming together as a team to be able to create something. And it’s something that
CIA does as well, we’re a community based art school. You work and you sweat,
and then you stand back and it’s like this huge
pasting that we did and it’s really rewarding.
